Decorating Baby Boys Room

Living in a rental there is only so much we can do with either
boys room.  The toddler, having exerted his personality, and showing a
love of planes has a surprise coming up which I will be sharing on the blog
shortly (here’s a hint, I have mentioned about this already in Moving House).  Baby boy however is yet to exert his personality in anything more
than I need milk and cuddles.  To top that off, we just kept his room
plain as we didn’t know whether we were having a boy or a girl.
And poor Baby Boy
hasn’t had much of his own yet, he not only inherited all the Toddler Terrors
furniture, but also his pictures.  As well as not having his cross stitch
finished yet (I am still working on it I swear!!) So I wanted to get him
something just for him but I didn’t want anything generic.  I was
struggling to find anything out here in Dubai that was doing the sort of bright
personal picture I was looking for.
A great example of
Lisa’s work with “Family Rules” I love the idea of translating these to “Playroom
Rules” as well…toys away at the end of the day anyone?
Then I discovered
Personalised Prints based out here in Dubai.  I love working with local
businesses and even more than that the lovely Lisa is a fellow expat ex-banker
who has recently expanded her business opening her Little Majlis shop
this January.  Her range of Personalised
Prints was exactly what I was looking for, something that would see Baby Boy
through babyhood into toddlerhood, childhood and that I could then keep and
reminisce about when he was small.  Not
only does she do wonderful nursery prints, she also has a fabulous family
range.   I particularly love this one:
My Mum can be expecting this in her Christmas stocking from
the boys, but again personalised to read Grandma runs on tea!  It is a running joke in our house how much
tea my mum drinks, since she has been staying with us this week we have gone
through 160 tea bags.
I caught up with Lisa and found out a little bit more about
Personalised Prints and the lady behind the prints…
Having been out in Dubai since 2006, after a brief 3 day visit in
2005 to her (now) husband, Lisa took the plunge and left her fulltime banking
position to combine her love of all things technical with a beautiful creative
streak and set up Personalised Prints after noticing a gap in the market for
bold, colourful and contemporary personalised designs out here in Dubai.
As anyone who works for themselves knows you need full support
from those around you and Lisa credits her husband for his support in allowing
her to follow her dream, life is so much better for you when you have your best
friend and advocate at home rooting for you and reminding you that you can do
this when times get tough, on the same hand it works well for her husband
knowing that Lisa is able to look after the house, no more worrying who will
leave work to deal with the latest plumbing emergency (plumbing emergency in
Dubai, unheard of…) or the air con breaking down.  Though working in a creative enterprise is
lethal as Lisa says “I always have so many ideas buzzing round in my head that
I want to start working on” and of course working from home means that your
computer, or Mac in Lisa’s case (ahem dear husband are you reading this, Macs
are the future) is always there calling you in the evenings and weekends so you
have to force yourself to switch off and maintain the work-life balance you
want (a bit like blogging!)

Going forward, Lisa is looking
forward to continue working with Little Majilis online marketplace.  For those of you who don’t know about Little
Majilis, pop on over to Personalised Prints page
and then have a little hop around, it is full of interesting boutiques all of
which are small, local businesses like Lisa, all offering unique items crafted
with love and care.  Which is the ethos
of Personalised Prints, as well as this Lisa is constantly expanding the range,
with wonderful Fathers Day designs coming out, to keep up to date you can
follow Personalised Prints on Facebook where you see
new designs first.  Of course on top of
that if you have an idea in your head explain it to Lisa and she will bring it
to life for you!

Baby Boys Print

So I am sure that you want to see
what I chose for Baby Boy from the stunning array of designs that Lisa offers,
I hope you realised that I haven’t shared any of the nursery ones until now.
The above is my proof design, and may
I just say what a pleasure it was to work with Lisa.  Fast, efficient and not a bother when I
decided to change what personalised text I actually wanted, we have had a few
variations bounced back and forth.  To
include Dubai or not.  To include the time
or not.  To have both and spread the text
over three lines.  As you can see in the
end we lost the time and kept “Dubai”.
And the best part?  This has been
completed in 3 days.  From me deciding
that I NEEDED the Balloon print in my life to the personalised balloon print being in my life.

If you are reading this from Dubai,
you will know about the struggle for delivery.
Here is where the other magic of Personalised Prints comes in, they can
be delivered to your door via courier.
Yes to your door!  So simple and convenient at a time that works for you.
No trekking round Dubai with children in tow to discover that it isn’t
in stock, or isn’t ready yet.  This is
truly fantastic customer service and just adds to the personalised feel.
