A Rant About Ironing

Ever growing clothing mountain,

Piles more stuff I need to fit in,

Creases and wrinkles everywhere,

Not a bloody thing to wear

Yank out the board of doom,

From the cupboards eerie gloom,

Grab the dreaded steam hissing iron,

Look at it, sadly, feel like crying

Start with all the small stuff,

Skip over anything too tough,

Kids don’t care what they wear,

I do it so other Mum’s don’t stare

Mountain reducing ever so slightly,

But the damn thing is still high and mighty,

Dresses, tops, trousers, skirts,

Lets not forget those p**sing work shirts

The iron continues spitting out steam,

Doing this weekly makes me want to scream,

Wouldn’t be bad if there was an end in sight

But the damn thing gets bigger EVERY night

It’s funny how all us mothers come together with ironing stories, and how we loathe the job! You poem nailed it! Work shirts shit me to tears!! #effitfriday

LOL! Brilliant. I hate ironing too. One year my DH actually bought me a steam iron for Mother’s Day. He’s never made a mistake like that again!

The sad thing is I actually need a new iron and I’m a little bit excited to get one. Even though I hate ironing. Go figure!

Great post. I hate ironing. I’m lucky my hubby does his work shirts but only because he thinks I would do it wrong lol. I have started to try and iron once a week some of mine and L’s stuff because we just ended up wearing the same things, the stuff that doesn’t crease. I will think of this though every time.

Hubby used to do his work shirts but it’s now a cross between me and the ironing company we use…. I hate it THAT much!

Great stuff, I don’t think we even own an iron any more, there isn’t enough time in the world for me to care about wrinkles šŸ™‚

You may have to remind me of what this iron is you speak of? I don’t ever bother doing it in our house, if I want to flatten our clothes I’ll just sit on them haha x

Love this! I absolutely hate ironing. In fact, I’m not even sure if we own an iron I hate it that much. That’s one way to avoid it! #effitfriday

That’s the best way to avoid it! Ours is pretty messed up

Stopped ironing years ago and only do the occasional ‘too creased to be allowed out’ items as and when needed. Just. Can’t. Face. It. #effitfriday

Haha I need to get there! At the moment I iron the little stuff religiously as its so little it doesn’t matter

  11. June 19, 2015 / 6:23 pm

This is why I buy clothes that don’t need ironing…well, at least I tell myself they don’t šŸ™‚ #effitfriday

I need to start doing that. Remember the old wrinkle clothes you used to be able to get??

  12. June 19, 2015 / 10:43 pm

Ha ha like this. Do you know how I get around it? I don’t do it lol. MY clothes are all stretchy, the kids get dirty or covered in sick too quickly and the hubbie irons his own work shirts.

I hate ironing! so much that I go out of my way to buy clothes that never need to be ironed.

  14. June 23, 2015 / 1:50 am

Since becoming a Mum, I rarely iron anything! Luckily my husband wears polo tshirts to work and they don’t crease if hung up…and mine and Elliot’s tshirts and things just get folded as soon as they are dry! Ironing was my least favourite job, and it feels good to have ditched it. Life’s too short šŸ˜‰

Oh I’m so jealous, my dad instilled in me this thought of ironing everything, maybe its in his memory haha doubt it! I long for a tumble drier where things aren’t so creased after being blasted through!
