Being a Blogger

What exactly is being a blogger and what does it mean?  I hadn’t really thought too much about bloggers until I became one myself.  As the house work piles up around us and the Toddler goes to write his name in the dust on the tv table I decided to put into a few words what being a blogger means to me.

Being a Blogger is…. ignoring the house work that needs to be done instead spending time on picmonkey creating a masterpiece for your latest blog post.

Being a Blogger is…. carrying round a notepad to scribble down ideas as and when inspiration strikes.  Mine is personally a Daiso (think Japanese poundland) special that I like to write in in pink pen.

Being a Blogger is…. taking photos at every opportunity just in case.  My phone gallery consists of loads of random photos like the one of the iron and the one of my lunch.

Being a Blogger is…. opening Twitter to promote your latest post and still being on their 3 hours later having gotten caught up in the latest Twitter chat.  I particularly find this a problem after certain people BLOW UP my Twitter.

Being a Blogger is…. knowing a whole community of like-minded people who are all willing to help.  And realising that said community aren’t going to bite when you approach.

Being a Blogger is…. reading others blogs for inspiration and advice.  Reading for fun.  Reading for tips on what to do with the toddler.  I love reading new blogs and until I became a Blogger I don’t think I ever fully appreciated them.  I certainly didn’t search them out and go back to blogs time and time again.

Being a Blogger is….  always wanting to better myself and my blog.  Moving over to WordPress was scary but is so rewarding now I’m here (and loving the styling).  And I’d have loved to attend a blog conference like #BritMums very jealous of you all attending.

Being a Blogger is…. learning new things.  From what html is, to how to add code, to graphic design, each day I learn something new that I didn’t know before.

Being a Blogger is….  becoming a social media addict.  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram I have accounts on them all and I always look for strategies to increase followers and engagement.

Being a Blogger is….  documenting my life, the boys lives and my husbands life in an online journal.

Being a Blogger is…. giving me new opportunities and opening doors everyday.  From some wonderful reviews to being a Huffington Post blogger.  To working with a local website in Sassy Mama Dubai to being invited to talk on the radio.  The world is opening up opportunities for me and I’m grabbing them with both hands.

Being a Blogger is….
in one word wonderful.  I’m so glad that one day in January I opened up my blog on a whim.  I love where I’ve come so far and I know I can take it further.  There is such an amazing community and so many inspirational bloggers out there who have achieved so much.

Watch out world.  Life with Baby Kicks is coming….

Now, I opened this up in one of the many fantastic resources available to bloggers which is a blogging Facebook group being a little bit cryptic.  I have loved some of the tags that I have been in recently, the I am the Mum who and 50 Things that make me Happy.  Not only are they a way to feel included in the blogger community they are a great insight into other bloggers and a nice prompt for a post.

Therefore, I am turning this post into a tag.  The “Being a Blogger…” tag.  I challenge you guys to write down what Being a Blogger means to you, what you’ve learnt, what you’ve done, anything goes as long as its because of you being a blogger.

Then I want you to pass the tag on.

All you need to do now is write the post (and let the world know where it came from) and tag as many people as you like letting them know by giving them a shout out on social media.

Let’s see how far we can get this.

I tag the following amazing bloggers to do their #beingablogger post

Elaine from Entertaining Elliot
Lora from The 21st Century Mama
Lauren from Belle du Brighton
Rebecca from Mrs Meldrum
Gemma from Coffee, Kids and Ice Cream
Laura from Wafflemama
Charley from Spidermum
Jemma from Twinkle Twinkle Here You Are
Toni from Gym Bunny Mummy
Cajsa from Emma’s Mamma
Karen from Not The Perfect Mum
Nicola from Someplace Strange
Janine from Janines Little World
Sian from Quite Frankly She Said
Laura from The Holistic Mama
Katy from What Katy Said

You guys don’t have to tag as many people as I have if you don’t want to I just wanted to get the ball rolling and you all were interested, you just need to tag SOMEONE!

Looking forward to reading your posts on what #beingablogger means to you.

Love this post! And I can relate to most things here – especially the random photos thing! I look back through my phone occasionally and think “why did I take that photo?”. Also love that you’ve turned this into a tag!

Hmmm, yes to all of the above (explains several random photos on my phone) but how do you explain to the kids no mums working, honest (three hours after being nose deep in twitter for all the wrong reasons).
