Month Four as a Family of Four

Wow.  My baby is FOUR months old.  Four months.  Already.  Time is flying it since I wrote our three month update.

With the Toddler at any given point I could have told you how old he was in weeks and days.  Possibly even in minutes.  This time round?  There’s no space in my brain to calculate weeks let alone days or minutes.  Months at least are easy.  On the 16th of every month my baby, in all probability my last ever baby, gets another month older.  Another month wiser.  And another month closer to being on the move.

The start of the month we were in the UK finishing off our holiday adventures with trips to Thomas Land, the National Forest Adventure Farm and the National Sea Life Centre before flying back to the heat that is summer out here and discovering swimming pools and trampolining!

Baby Boy

Is still massive and showing no signs of slowing down.  Massive second child alert though *I have no idea how much he weighs* gone are the days of religiously queuing up to have weights marked in a little red book.  I have eyes.  I have weighed down arms.  I can see that my little chunk muffin is not lacking in the weight department.  He will be weighed tomorrow for his four month jabs.  First time in 2 months.  My guess is that he will be 8kg but we will see.

Edward

No nap routine.  Not much of a bedtime routine either.  Cold dinners but we are working on it!  Sleep is for the weak but that’s ok.  He’s only this little once.  Even though he’s not little he’s ginormous but you know what I mean.

Sleeping Baby Quote

Temperatures are sort of cooling down and with an impending holiday to Thailand we decided it was time to get him into the swimming pool before we head out east.

He loved it.

Other than that time just seems to be flying, he’s desperate to roll or to move or to do ANYTHING.  Can’t say I blame him when the Toddler looms over him like a well meaning over enthusiastic puppy….

The Toddler Terror

Is hitting the stage of a threenager early.  Stroppy diva isn’t the word.

No Mummy,  I do it

Go away Mummy

I no like it

To name a few choice phrases in our house at the moment.

Then on the complete other side of the coin he is one of the most sensitive, caring and thoughtful little boys that I’ve ever met.  Always happy for a kiss and a cuddle.  Always making sure he knows where Daddy is.  Asking about Baby Boy.

Mummy Baby Boy is crying.  Is he OK?  What’s the matter Baby Boy?

Are you OK Daddy?  Need a cuddle?  I’m OK too

His speech knows no bounds and if he decides he likes you then you are the focus of his little nearly 3 year old chat and imagination.  I have been sick enough to visit the doctor this month and the doctor was lucky enough to be one of the chosen ones

Hi Doctor Man, this is Woody.  His best friend is Buzz.  Buzz Lightkar.  Buzz Lightkar is at home man.

Buzz and Woody

Yes.  We are back with the Toy Story obsession.  I didn’t realise that it was possible to be fed up of Toy Story.

It is.

We’ve lost the nap most days which might be another reason for diva like behaviour.   It’s an adjustment.  Just as much for mummy I think!

He had a blast on the plane on the way back to Dubai and was so well behaved walking through the airport when we landed as there were no buggies available.  Despite me rudely awakening him he held my hand all the way and trotted by my side, running with excitement the second he saw Daddy waiting for him over the barrier.

Nursery is still out but we won a free week to a summer camp where he went and had a blast.  Except for drop off.  That started well and by the end of the week led to utter hysteria from the car.  I knew he would have fun and he did.  But it’s making me slightly nervous for September when he starts a new nursery again.  Not just that but I am looking at returning to work he could be in a full time nursery.  Eek.

The Husband and I

Have been reunited!  It’s like we’ve never been away! Sign that we are soul mates and best friends? Or sign that he missed my cooking?? Jokes aside I came home to a beautiful, crumb free, spanking clean house. Empty laundry basket. Empty ironing pile. It lasted approximately 14 hours before myself and the boys trashed the place!

We’ve managed a date night since we’ve been back where both boys were complete angels and slept the whole time we were out. Hot dinner, wine, conversation. We went to Fume in Pier 7 at Dubai Marina. And it was lovely. I love the concept they have of food sharing *I like to share otherpeople’s food not my own* starters and we munched away on calamari and smoke mackerel pate. Then I made an error. Duck salad. I read the menu wrong!! I expected a duck breast so also ordered mashed potato. Let me tell you mashed potato and duck salad aren’t really that great together. The night itself however was wonderful. And we need to make time to do more things like that. We need to remember we are also a couple as well as mummy and daddy.

Other than that getting fit has been on the cards, no marathon for the husband this year (unless he gets a place in the ballot) but he does have 2 or 3 half marathon plans with an aim to smash his personal best. Running outside has started slowly for him. And even slower for me. I did the first session of the couch to 5k program. Then promptly fell sick so I’ve not been again. Dusting the trainers off this week and headed out. Also going to be taking them with me to Thailand!

After my first run, not a good look

What do you do to stay connected and be more than just a parent?

Come and see what we got up to in month five….

For me its my weekly choir that keeps me feeling normal and not just someones mum!! I get to sing all my favourite songs, sometimes I laugh so much that I actually cry (true story, someone had to get me a tissue lol!) and its nice not having a small boy shoving a train in my face “look mummy!”.

Love the pic of baby boy in the pool, he just looks so chilled out!! xx #picknmix

Lovely update. My toddler does both ‘go away’ and ‘you okay? Need a cuddle?’ too! & my probably last baby just turned 1 – it goes so fast! I didn’t weigh her as much as eldest either! #ftmob

Lovely update on your family – I know what you mean about not getting your second child weighed very often and being less precise about their age! I love the quote about people saying they slept like a baby not having one and sounds like Baby Boo is doing really well. Hope all goes well with his jabs. The stroppy independent stage is challenging, isn’t it but I do love your toddler’s concern for Baby Boy and Daddy too and him asking if Daddy needs a cuddle is just adorable. Sounds like you had a lovely date night. Thanks for linking up with #ftmob 🙂

Thanks Louise. Jabs went well, I love that here they get 2 nurses to do the jabs at the same time for less trauma!! X
