My travelling medical bag used to consist of a few paracetamol and, if I was lucky, an Imodium or 2 chucked in the depths of my washbag. So by the time you go to take them they are covered in a layer of undefined fluff.
Then the boys arrived and now I have my special travel medical bag. A child friendly travel medical kit. For all the boys medicines. Me and the husband still have the fluffy paracetamol…..
So just what should you pack in a your travel medical kit when you are travelling with children?
Calpol and Nurofen
Never leave home without Calpol! There is always one in my medical kit and one in my hand luggage. I used to steer clear of nurofen after a reaction the Toddler had when he was a year old which I think was more to do with the MMR but after the baby got tonsillitis and was on a rotation of calpol and ibuprofen I discovered the wonder of this drug. We find it amazing for teething. Amazing. Wonder drug.
Saline Spray
Planes and changes in climate always make my boys have stuffy noses and colds. Without fail every single plane ride. Saline spray offers some relief once they let me get it up their noses.
Plasters
We are at the age where plasters make all boo boos better. Coloured plasters make them even better.
Cough Medicine
As with colds, coughs are the other side effect of travelling. I don’t use cough medicine often since my doctor told me it was good to get the yuck up, but when they can’t sleep it’s good to have some relief so they can concentrate on getting better.
Baby Vicks
Again, for bedtime to help relieve those sniffles and coughs allowing for easier breathing and easier sleep to come!
Metanium
King of all nappy rash cream…..
Sudocrem
Great for preventing nappy rash, for our eczema patches, any cuts and according to my aunty a miracle cure for sunburn…….
And of course for me and the husband there’s always that paracetemol for any over indulgence that may happen while on holiday.
We are travelling for 5 weeks at Christmas and I have so much to organise. This is great, I didn’t even think about putting a medical kit together. I’ll definitely be doing the same xx #thelist

It is definitely a weight of your mind when the baby is screaming from teething and the Toddler is streaming with cold that you can just go and get what you know out of your bag!
Mr TIn Box is a bit of a swop when it comes to first aid boxes – we have one at home, in the car and our caravan. We never leave home without Calpol! Saline spray would be a handy addition to our medical stash though. Someone always has a cold!! #thelist

My husband mentioned it when we first started travelling, I just decide on the contents. It’s been especially useful when we’ve been out to places like Sri Lanka where I wouldn’t be confident finding calpol! X
Great list! 9nly thing if add is Dioralite rehydration owders. When our toddler got a bug in holiday wr struggled to find any and were lucky to find an old pack in hubbys washbag still in date and were told to give him tiny sips every five min to get him hydrated to save going into hospital and it really works. You always hope not to need anyhing though!
