Here it is Merry Christmas; Now You’re a Parent

Welcome to my post for day 9 of the #12daysofparenting; the baby doesn’t stop at Christmas and welcome if you’ve hopped over from Adventures of a Novice Mum  We have so many prizes to give away this year, including a signed limited edition A3 print from Fresh Photography, entries via the Rafflecopter at the bottom of this post.

Here it is Merry Christmas, everybody’s having fun……..EXCEPT…..well the Baby doesn’t stop because it’s Christmas. And neither does the Toddler.

Although I love Christmas, it’s my favourite time of year, we do have lots of magical moments, excitement is in the air, giggles aplenty, beaming smiles and lots of family time.

Cheeky Christmas Baby

But the rest?  Well it’s business as usual for the pair of them, tantrums, nap time refusals, squabbling, answering back.

So to the tune of one of the greatest all time Christmas songs, with massive apologies out to Slade, here it is Merry (Parenting) Christmas.

Here it is Merry Christmas; Now You’re a Parent

Are you crying snotty tears all down your face?
Because something, somewhere’s been moved out of place?
Does the tantrum always start small
Does the toy get thrown at the wall
Do time outs ever work out the right way?

So here it is Merry Christmas
Everybody’s screaming tired
Look to their bedtime now
Before they get too wired.

Are you fighting every nap time that they try?
Are you flailing arms, poking fingers in their eyes?
Does your Mummy always tell ya,
That sleeping’s for the best,
With frantic rocking, pacing, feeding and the rest?

So here it is Merry Christmas,
Everybody needs a nap
Look to their bedtime now,
You’re falling in the overtired trap.

What will your Mummy do when she sees
You’ve pulled all the presents from the tree?
Ah ah

Are you fighting with your brother?
Are you all bickering with each other?
Do you fight like cat and dog
About who had what first
So you scream for refereeing
Where it always ends up worse

So here it is Merry Christmas
Nearly over for a year
Look to the future now
In the meantime grab a beer……

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! May your children sleep well and not be too over excited from all the sugar they attempt to sneak, or not sneak in our case, blatantly eat in front of you.

It’s our first year with 2 children so I suspect it will go very much this way. Very funny post. Keep up the good work

Haha this is brilliant. Plenty of excitement and magic but plenty of trying to stop babies eating baubles too 🙂

Parenting times are exciting times; why don’t we just had lots of people, lots of paper, lots of items, lots of sugar, and lots of tiredness to the miss … Good job with the remix, I’m sure it’ll make many smile. Send to the singer and song writer if you can find them :-). Sending lots of hopes of patience as you referee and keep the calm. Such fun to look forward to when we become 4. #12daysofparenting

Did you write that poem? It sums up parenthood perfectly and its true being a parent dosen’t stop children being children during the festive season.
