JORD Wood Watches because time is precious

Time.  It is a precious commodity, even more so it would seem when you have children.  So much so that when our firstborn was born my gift to my husband was a men’s watch to remind him how precious time is.

Which is why I was delighted when JORD Wood Watches got in touch with me about reviewing one of their women’s watches, a company who has a philosophy which says:

The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time. ~ JORD Wood Watches

Which is something I wholeheartedly believe in.  Right now the days are long but the years are short and all of a sudden you have a four year old, an 18 month old and the memories of the baby years are become hazy. Hazy enough for you to be broody enough to consider another newborn who doesn’t sleep (oh wait you have an 18 month old who doesn’t sleep) even though you’ve come to the conclusion that you are at two and out.

This week I’ve definitely had a week where the days have seemed long, despite having my mum out visiting for the Big One turning four, helping out, taking the Baby while I ran round Doha sorting our residency permits, having him while I did the school run.  Despite all this it’s been a tough week, we have been running on no sleep thanks to the Baby getting a cold, and generally hating sleep.  It’s been a week where every day I have been looking at my watch willing bedtime to get there a little bit faster.  A little bit earlier.  Constantly lifting my wrist up to see if we are any closer to putting the little darlings into bed.  And with each glance at my watch a little smile crossed my face as I caught sight of my newest accessory, a beautiful all natural wood watch from JORD Wood Watches, most specifically a stunningly intricate Cora watch in maple and silver, with just a hint of diamante sparkle on the face.

One of the things about being an expat, aside from the trailing spouse stereotype you need to shake off, is that when people visit they have to pay a visitors tax. And in my mums case not only was that 7 massive bars of Dairy Milk was my new watch from JORD Wood Watches

Generally I don’t tend to get myself new clothes, new treats.  Like many others a lot of the time I get sidetracked when shopping for myself and buy for the boys instead.  A new pair of PJs, a little toy, a t-shirt.  Nothing for me, but this time, this time the watch was all mine.

And what a watch.  Elegantly crafted from natural maple wood with a pale silver face making it the perfect accessory for the heat of the desert that we call home.

The lightness of this women’s watch makes it ideal in the hotter temperatures we hit over here in the Middle East, without irritating my skin or making me sweat on the school run.  The double clasp on the back ensures it is held firmly on my wrist without falling over my hands or sliding up my arm, and thanks to JORD wood watches offering an easy to follow wrist sizing guide on ordering my unique watch fits perfectly on my (relatively) slim wrist whilst still sliding over my (massive) man hands.

And of course there is the fact that it is a thing of beauty on my wrist, a fashion accessory in the shape of a women’s watch due to the uniqueness of being made from wood, intricately crafted with just the right amount of sparkle.

As well as being a unique timepiece perking up even the dullest of my school run outfits (hey we leave the house at 6:30am it’s hard to be all ready at that time!) it is also durable and operates old-school style by being wound up rather than being battery operated.  And who has time to get batteries replaced?!
