Living Arrows 8/52 – dance in the rain

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”
Kahlil Gibran

This year I am taking part in Living Arrows, a weekly photography project taking photos of my boys week on week, last week was all about weekends in Qatar, which truth be told are much like weekends in England.  They may fall on a Friday and Saturday here but the time spent is done so in a very similar way, we have time together as a family, go to the park, to soft play and of course birthday parties.

Sticking with the life in Qatar theme this week it’s all about rain.

Yes, that wet stuff that falls from the sky that you wouldn’t think would fall in the Middle East.  Until I moved here I had no idea that it rained here, but it does.  And when it does it is bigger and better than any other rain, naturally.

This last week has been torrential, pouring out of the sky and forming great big puddles all around the streets.  What else is there to do with puddles other than go find them and jump in them?

Dance in the rain

One donned a pair of wellies that was two sizes too small and are in fact now designated as his little brothers, except for the fact he won’t hand them over and even wants to sleep in them.  Another wonderful anecdote from Peppa.  Not that we have a Peppa obsession in this house.

The other, well the other is at one with nature.  Shorts on, shoes off, time to feel the rain between his toes.

Watching them both have a blast in the rain, running, splashing, jumping and laughing made me realise that this is the very essence of childhood and one we should all embrace.  Now I’m not saying take your shoes off in the cold UK mid winter slush/rain, but do dance in it.  That’s my vow to my boys, that I will always dance with them in the rain.

Holly loves to splash and get wet in puddles, Alice is a little more cautious in life. I love those wellies, I can see why he is holding onto them x

Oh I LOVE proper rain! None of this piddly drizzle we get here in the UK. Fantastic photos – you can’t beat a good puddling jump I say #livingarrows

Two brilliant pictures. They are what childhood is all about. BattleKid can’t resist a puddle, especially when he’s not wearing the right footwear! #livingarrows
