Cool Kids Bedroom Ideas for Summer

With the summer holidays swiftly approaching, it gives us all the chance to enjoy having our kids at home all day, but it also provides us with the challenge for making sure that their bedrooms don’t become too hot.

This gives us the perfect excuse to give our children’s bedrooms a little makeover, and so here are a few ideas on how to ensure that your little ones’ sleeping spaces stay nice and cool during the summer months.

Cool down with a fan

Getting a good bedroom fan is essential in the hot days of summer. And rather than getting one with the potentially dangerous whirring blades, it seems like a tower fan or even one of these cool bladeless fans will not only lower temperatures, but also keep the volume down too!

Block out the sun

The summer sun can also be pretty intense, and there’s nothing like a good set of blackout blinds for keeping the heat out. Plenty of mums now swear by blackout blinds as a way of making their children’s bedrooms much more comfortable when bedtime comes around, and they can often be much cheaper than fancy curtains too!

Check your fabrics

It can also be a good idea to think about what kinds of materials are part of your child’s bed. Getting pure cotton sheets are the best way to stop the bed getting too sweaty, but even some of the 3000-spring mattresses at Bedstar also provide a cooler alternative to many other bed types.

Ditch the teddies

The psychological aspects of a room’s decor can also play a part in determining how the bedroom feels. Whilst your child will probably want to cram the room with as many fluffy toys as possible, it can be an idea to try and keep things relatively stripped back.

This is why it can be good to keep the colour palette relatively subdued with cool blues and whites that are perfect for relieving the heat of the summer days. Something like the endlessly stylish nautical theme is a great look for a kid’s bedroom, and it’s a design that’s pretty gender-neutral and cheap to implement too!

Store the toys

And finally, one issue that must always be overcome in a children’s bedroom regardless of the season is where to store all of those books and toys.

Whilst it would be nice to have a divan bed with a good storage space underneath that lovely 3000 spring mattress, an alternative would be to get some stackable storage cubes to make sure that your little one never runs out of places to store their endlessly growing collection of toys!
