Welcome to British Summertime

So you’d think after 3 years in Dubai in the sunshine, with a summertime that is HOTTER THAN THE SUN, I’d be loving a bit of rain and cooler temperatures.  However, it turns out that I am British.  Very, very British which is resulting in a little bit of a moan about the weather.  More specifically the summer.  Where is the British Summer???

Except, this is the British Summer.  The British weather that we all know and love so well, it just appears that my Dubai wardrobe didn’t get the memo that it would have to withstand rain I mean we were coming back in British Summertime right?!

Dance in Rain

How wrong we both were.  It has been a funny old time weather wise from the sun cracking the flags while we enjoyed fabulous days out to rain pouring down while my Big One developed an obsession for the umbrella…

On arriving back to the UK, shivering off our flights, it became apparent than I needed to get some wet weather gear for the boys so I promptly headed to Next and got lucky with an online offer getting two anoraks for £20.  Bargain.  Plus, how cute?!

Myself?  I am hard.  I am Northern.   I am tough….. Truth?  There wasn’t much in the shops because, you know, British Summertime, and my back up plan of Amazon failed me.

Enter Smart Shopping

Then I discovered a site that showered you with sales, with discounts, with brands.  The Cheshire Oaks of online shopping, and even better there was a Joules sale on there!!!

I drool over Joules.

Drooooooooool.

So I headed on to look for the boys, as per, and discovered the ultimate in raincoats.  I’d been shopping earlier that day in Derby town cente and dismissed anything that cost more that £9.99 but I found a coat from Joules, that after the sales was priced at £29.95, the same price I had scoffed at in the day.  But this coat.  This coat called to me.  It called to me so much over 2 days I kept sneaking onto just to marvel at the raincoats.  My mum was fed up of me harking on about it.  The pinkness.  The Dalmatians.  It was CUTE!  I would therefore be cute when wearing it.  I drooled.  I ummed.  I ahhhhed.

And then I ordered – I pick it up on Monday……. Watch out for the picture of the Mum in the pink coat!

Ooh I like it! I know what you mean about British summer, but our love hate relationship with the weather is one of the few things us Brits all have in common!

Oooh now that is a site to remember. I love Joules but I do wince at the prices sometimes. I am permanently on the lookout for good raincoats too. For obvious reasons!
