Toddler Messy Jelly Play

I’m not sure whether any of you saw #LiveItForGeorgie. If you hadn’t it was a fairly simple idea, Georgie was an adorable little boy who was very sick with leukaemia and passed away on 5th July 2014. His mum, Oana from Mama Haven, set up her blog to help others and keep his memory alive. To honour his short life on the anniversary of Georgie becoming an angel she urged everyone to do something in memory of Georgie that he wouldn’t have had chance to experience.

I decided that in Georgies memory we would do Traffic Light Jelly Messy Play. From my experience most boys enjoy getting messy and I’m sure it’s something that Georgie would have loved. I hope we did his memory proud.  You can see our Instagram here (note not my best photo).

What You Need

Red, Yellow and Green Jelly
Toys
A large container

How to Do It

1. First make up the green jelly and pour it over some small toys in the bottom of the large container

2. Leave to set in the fridge

3. Make up the Yellow/Orange jelly.

leave to cool slightly or you end up melting the green jelly

4. Add extra toys and pour over the green jelly. Leave to set

5. Repeat with red jelly.

6. Prepare to get messy….

Messy Jelly Play

We set out the old shower curtain and made sure we did it on the tiled kitchen floor because not only was it messy it was sticky!

Jelly on shower

Armed with a spoon I let the toddler loose and decided this was a completely toddler led activity and let him play.

We slipped. We tasted. We slid. We squished. We scooped. We rescued the toys. We talked about the colours.

It was messy.

But worth it for the fun we had – I hope we did Georgie proud.

I love this! What a messy, squishy, wobbly idea! 😀 I’d love to get messy with this with my daughter. She’d love playing with jelly and what a lovely gesture for such a cause. xxx #toddlerapprovedtuesday

We’ve done jelly before and it’s very messy but great fun! Haven’t layered it up with toys inside so will have to try this! #ToddlerApprovedTuesday
