The Being Sick Rant

I hate being sick.  I hate it even more now I’m a mum.  Did my body not get the message, I’m a mum, I don’t get sick!

If you hadn’t guessed already I’ve been sick this week. Sick enough to warrant a doctor’s trip. Sick enough to be housebound for most of the week. Housebound. With a very energetic nearly 3 year old and temperatures soaring over 40 so we can’t get outside. I’ve been sick and having to attempt to catch the Toddler when he over enthusiastically bounces on the couch so he goes flying off. He knows he’s not allowed it just makes it all the more hilarious.

The type of sick I’ve been? Viral. So no magic drugs. The viral infection affected where? My throat. I’m sure you can see what’s coming next here….. yep. I LOST MY VOICE.

So sick. And voiceless. With a baby that found my croak hilarious and a toddler who delighted that he couldn’t be told off so jumped on the couch more.

Sigh.

Luckily I’m feeling better now. Just about. My voice is back. We are less housebound. The couch is back to bring sat on rather than jumped on 82% of the time.

Mums do not get sick. Body, please take note for next time you try anything like this….

Oh no, glad to hear you’re feeling better! Being sick as a Mummy is the worst, I miss lounging about watching Jeremy Kyle without any little people to worry about. #effitfriday

Glad you are feeling better. I hope you can laugh now at you’re baby laughing at your voice. We went to a sushi place when mine was little and she thought the guys speaking chinese were hysterical. It still makes me giggle

Oh, that’s horrible. It’s awful feeling under the weather when you have kids to take care of, but hey, you’re getting back to normal in time for the weekend. Something positive, right? #effitfriday

Disaster!!! Hate it when I’m sick it takes me about 2 weeks just to get back on top of the disaster zone the house becomes when I’m not functioning enough to manage it. Glad your feeling better #effitfriday

Urgh, being sick and taken care of kids IS the WORST! Strange how my husband seems to think when he’s ill, he can’t possibly take care of the kids as he’s almost dying and everything with man flu, where as I just get on with it…think this scenario is pretty much universal after speak to my mum-mates. Hope your in top form soon #effitfriday
