The past three years living in Dubai has meant a life of sunshine and summer dresses no matter what the time of year. Christmas was spent in a beautiful Milk and Mummy summery breastfeeding dress and my wardrobe is bursting with pastels and shimmery material (and boob friendly access!).
But with our Big Move (capital letters there you know it’s serious) creeping up on me fast and having become quite acclimatised to the heat my wardrobe needs an overhaul. The pile of charity clothes is growing daily and I need to replace with some key staples that are ready for me to brave the UK.
And I know, I know, I am moving back at the end of May and it’s British summer time. But for one we all know what British Summertime actually means and for two summertime here creeps up to 50 degrees. 50 degrees. So until there is a summer heatwave I need some dresses that are practical and stylish, that I can dress up or down.
I love department stores for their range of brands and designs suitable for all budgets and I’ve been busy looking through the House of Fraser website to see what makes it to the top of my UK Wardrobe Wishlist and I’m sharing my top 5 (husband’s credit card better beware!) dresses, as I am a dress girl.
My UK Wardrobe Wishlist with House of Fraser
I am a classic apple shape. My belly is the bane of my life and no matter how much running or how few sit ups I do it is still at the squishy postnatal wobbly stage. Stretchy dresses are my friend, as are lovely knitted, meant to be baggy, batwing arm dresses than can be warmed up with cosy tights and boots, or cooled down with a pair of diamante flip flops – and trust me I have plenty of those. I love this Phase 8 Becca Batwing Dress and don’t think I’d look out of place on the yummy mummy school run.
Keeping on the yummy, and oh so trendy, Mummy theme I love this Dorothy Perkins Fitted Shirt Dress I particularly love the belt to pull in the waistline (and help me hide my wobbles)
To bring a bit of sunshine back into my life on a cloudy, British summer’s day, I love the Yumi Butterfly and Floral Sleeved Tunic Dress.
For job hunting, pounding the streets and needing to look smart yet refreshed I love the Yumi Ditsy Daisy Tea Dress.
And finally it would seem that we have a few weddings to go to this summer from the sister-in-law to friends. You always need a new dress to go to a wedding, and to me nothing says Wedding more than Karen Millen. In particular the Karen Millen Stripe and Flower Print Dress.
On top of that I think a few of these dresses would be perfect for some of the blogging conferences I will now be in the country for!
Which is your favourite?

That Karen Millen dress is gorgeous!
