Three Perfect Dresses for a Christmas Cruise

This time next month we will have boarded a plane, and then another plane, and then a boat.  And of course it will also be Christmas Eve.

Yep, this Christmas we’re off on a cruise round the Caribbean.

After a trip on the Azura last January which completely changed my perspective on cruising and a last minute pre-festive dash to Malaysia last year we decided that this year we were going away for Christmas.  And it was to be a cruise.

The thing is, it is a Christmas and New Year cruise, with wonderful formal nights.  I need to update my formal wardrobe, after all my eldest has a tuxedo from Dobell, my youngest has a waistcoat set from Mamas & Papas and I need to live up to their expectations!

I’ve been and I’ve raided my friends of their nicest dresses.

I went out shopping in Qatar.

And I came to the realisation that online shopping is my friend.  Especially with Black Friday sales starting today.

First things first – what kind of dress?

Last time we went on a cruise I was breastfeeding my youngest.  The dresses I wore needed to be easy access and had to hide my nursing bras.  Which, whilst comfy, had large straps, clips and were pink.

This year I’ve invested in a Va Va Voom backless and strapless adhesive bra from Magic Body Fashion as modelled by my youngest…

The bra sticks to your breasts, so no nipple on show if it’s chilly, as well as the added benefit of a drawstring front.  Which you then pull. giving you a cleavage and lifting mine slightly above my knees.  I jest.  Kind off.

My point is that by using this bra all dress options are open to me.

Backless, strapless, one shoulder, spaghetti straps, free flowing, body con.

There is no dress off limits.

Watch out credit card

After a trip out to Festival City Doha, and gulping at the prices I came home and hit my laptop with such vengeance my husband couldn’t quite believe it.

I love Ted Baker dresses.  In fact I love them so much I put my bridesmaids in them for my wedding.

I adore the fact that they have a range of dresses for every occasion.

And well.

This.

I also happen to have a soft spot for Monsoon.

The beautiful Delphine maxi dress in black has been ordered, delivered and is currently on it’s way to me here in Qatar via a friend.

Perfect for a New Years Eve ball.

The gorgeous Emma over at Wanderlust and Wet Wipes brought Karen Millen dresses back into the spotlight as she sent me pictures from the changing room of her looking fabulous this colourful maxi dress.  I’ve not quite worked out how to break it to her that I want it so much I am going to buy it too!

Haha love it! e will have to co-ordinate so we don’t end up wearing the Karen Miller dress at the same time. You know. Like on an office day or to a play date…
