Guide to Touring the Cyclades with the kids this summer

If you are planning a fantastic getaway for the whole family then you might want to consider doing something a little bit different that will see you swapping the usual all-inclusive hotel resort for a holiday that is altogether more adventurous.

The Cyclades is arguably Greece’s most famous island chains, located in the southeast of the Aegean Sea. They are made up of around 220 separate islands with some of the most famous being Kos, Mykonos, Naxos and Santorini.

Why not be a little more free and flexible with your holiday this year and take a tour of some of the most stunning of these Greek Islands a great way to keep the getaway fresh and exciting for the kids.

First Stop – Santorini

There is no better place to kick off the tour than on the beautiful island of Santorini, home to some of the best view of the Aegean. Villas in Santorini are large and spacious with whitewashed exteriors and striking blue domes. The beaches are clean and clear and really show Greece at its best. Accommodation is never a problem with the island boasting some of the best places to stay in the whole of the Cyclades.

Next on the tour – Ios

The Mylopotas Watersports Centre is a great place to head for a day of aquatic fun and everyone is welcome; from beginners to professionals. This is a great way to bond with the kids while learning a new skill and will certainly make Ios a memorable stop on the tour.

Next up, Naxos

The azure waters are the first thing that strikes you about this tiny island, famous for its ancient ruins and narrow cobbled streets. This is a great stop off for those keen to learn more about the historical Greek getaway.

Spend the day sight-seeing at The Castle of Naxos and then head over to The Temple of Apollo. You can hire a local guide to take you on a tour of the ruins and you can brush up on your Greek language skills.

Whichever islands in the Cyclades chain you decide to visit, there is something for everyone to enjoy and it certainly beats the usual all-inclusive package holiday.
